Camera Buttons
Need to step up your selfie game? When the camera app is open, the volume buttons double as controls to take photos.
Training Siri
You can train Siri how to properly pronounce words by saying,
"That's not how you pronounce ______." Instead, she will offer you
alternative pronunciations for you to choose from.
Multiple Pictures
Your phone will take a series of photos, one after another, if
you hold down the capture button in the camera app. Never miss the
perfect shot ever again.
Timestamp
If you slide your text messages to the left, you can see the exact time stamp of each text in the conversation.
Level
Use your phone as a level by swiping left on the compass application. Save yourself a trip to the tool store!
Faster Charging
You can maximize the charging speed of your iPhone by turning it on "Airplane Mode" while it's plugged in.
LED Flash Notifications
Sometimes vibrations and alert tones can get pretty annoying.
Alternatively, you can use LED flashes to alert you by going to:
Settings > General > Accessibility, then scroll down and turn on
"LED Flash for Alerts."
Music Timer
If you're playing music or an audiobook before you go to bed,
you can set an automatic timer to turn it off after you fall asleep.
Open your Clock app, choose the Timer button in the lower right and set
the timer for however long you want your media to play. Then, tap "When
Timer Ends," scroll to the bottom and choose "Stop Playing".
Passwords With Letters
Instead of relying on a numerical phone lock, you can create a
longer password with letters/words by going to: Settings > General
> Passcode Lock and turn off "Simple Passcode."
Airplanes Above
If you're curious about the airplanes that are currently flying
over your head, you can simply ask Siri "what flights are overhead."
She will display the flight numbers, altitude, and angle of the planes
within your airspace.
Read Aloud
If your eyes are feeling tired, you can have your iPhone read
texts for you by first opening the Settings app then choosing General,
tap Accessibility, then turn on the Speak Selection feature. After
you've done this, the "Speak" option will always appear when you
highlight text.
Change The Vibration Pattern
If you're looking to enhance your user experience a bit more,
you can personally design different vibration patterns for different
alerts and contacts, thus you can tell who texted you without even
looking at your phone. To do so, go to Settings > Sounds >
Ringtone > Vibration > Create New Vibration.
Web Suffixes
Instead of constantly having to type out different web suffixes
each time you access the internet, you can hold down the "." on your
keyboard and a menu will pop up with a list of web suffixes to choose
from.
Screenshot
If you ever need to share the information that is currently
visible on your screen, you can take a screenshot by holding down the
home button and the on/off button at the same time. The screen shot will
be saved automatically to your camera roll.
Access Email Drafts
To simplify you email experience, you can easily access all of
your email drafts by holding down the "Compose" icon. It will then give
you a list of all of your previous drafts.
Create Your Own Shortcuts
Instead of always typing out your commonly used phrases, create
shortcuts by going to Settings > General > Keyboard >
Shortcuts > Add New Shortcut. Enter a word or phrase that you use a
lot and what you want the shortcut to be. Texting quickly and
efficiently has never been easier!
